a tree with a thousand apples by Sachit Gupta.

#thetreewithathousandapples

#qotd Can you name a book which left you in tears❓
#qotd Name a book wherein the after effect of the words lingered on far longer even when you had finished reading the book❓

#aotd This is one book which had me in tears..throughout the read. Even after finishing the read..I couldnot help but think about the people of Kashmir.

The choice of words..was perfect. The narration is so descriptive that it leaves nothing to imagination. The language used, although simple with a few new words here & there, is perfect. There is use of vernacular language, the meanings are given on the same page itself. For rest of the words, there’s a glossary at the end of the book.

The tree with a thousand apples stood tall amidst the hedge with its roots & branches spreading to both the houses, one of the Kashmiri Pandits & other of the Kashmiri Muslims..the way it had always been…
 And now, the tree is drying..the wood is coming apart..there are no apples.. squirrels & insects have made their house in the hollows..it is slowly dying..

The tree, as is the Title of the book and the Cover Design..is symbolic of Kashmir..the love, calm & peace that was once prevalent there.

The tug of war for ownership of the land & it’s people has resulted in diminishing the Jannat (heaven) on Earth..

Genre: fiction; inspired by true events.

This is a gorgeous, hardbound book with a beautiful dust jacket with the same design printed on the book as well. The cover design is by Misha Oberoi. One can find illustrations & autumn leaf design at regular instances in the book. Character sketch is wonderfully done. The size of the book, the cover, the designing, the language, the story.. everything is PERFECT. There are no loose ends. My 1st ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read of the month!

Although there is no table of contents, the book is basically divided into 6 parts with 17 Chapters in all. It’s begins & ends on the same note..Total of 283 pages of intense read.

You will laugh..smile..cry..feel angry.. agitated.. frustrated..while reading through the book.

The situation in Kashmir has been depicted with the story of 2 neighbors, Kashmiri Pandits & Kashmiri Muslims & their children’s childhood friend..who were living amiably together & wished for only love & prosperity.

Published by @Niyogibooks in 2017, this book is a masterpiece in itself. Available for INR 236.25/- @amazonkindle & for INR 262/- @amazondotin

This is one read which got me emotional..gave me goosebumps..& tears..with feeling of anger & empathy..

A perfect description of the sensitive topic at hand.

fluid- be more than what you are taught to be BY Ashish Jaiswal

 #fluid
#tagline “BE MORE THAN WHAT YOU ARE TAUGHT TO BE”.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
 THE APPROACH APPLIED BY GENIUSES OVER CENTURIES.

 It’s the #1 #bestseller in #educational #philosophy

Genre: Non-fiction

It is written by an Indian Origin Author, @ashishjaiswal who is currently the ASSOCIATE FELLOW at the OXFORD Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies.

 He got the BEST Non-fiction AWARD at Konak Lit Fest
&
Recently got the GLOBAL NEW-AGE THINKER IN EDUCATION AWARD 2020.

#Brucelee once quoted,
“EMPTY YOUR MIND. BE FORMLESS, SHAPELESS LIKE WATER.”

And this forms the BASIS of this wonderful book and also the Title #fluid

The Cover is beautiful with embossed effects, designed by @ibrahimrayintakath

This is the 3rd BOOK by the author.
It lays emphasis on the PREMISE that our EDUCATION SYSTEM HAS GONE REDUNDANT.

Fixation of our focus on a few traditionally perceived secure professions and forcing our kids to follow them mindlessly, without knowing the interest of the kid will eventually lead to formation of a SIMILAR box or an individual in the infinite row of boxes or sea of humans.

 It talks a lot about the knowledge in the VISHNUDHARMOTTARAM PURANAM and wisdom of our Ancestors.

The author argues that we need to have a MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH towards life.

We cannot just specialize in one particular thing, it will make us OBSOLETE & EASILY REPLACEABLE one day. We need to have knowledge of other related subjects to widen our sphere of thinking and wisdom.

We need to BE FLEXIBLE LIKE WATER in our approach towards life..absorb everything from around us.. In line with #darwinstheory of SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, one needs to adjust & adopt to survive.

Published by @wisdombooks this is a 234 pages read, divided in 5 parts.

It has loads of EXAMPLES, ILLUSTRATIONS from India as well as from the rest of the world. There is a separate section for NOTES, REFERENCES and IMAGE CREDITS which is so so helpful.
It looks like a complete, perfect THESIS on the subject.
The narration is such that it feels like the author is sitting and conversing & explaining his point infront of you.
A very ENGAGING & IMPRESSIVE read.

It SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS & is written in a very easy, simple & understandable lang.

The author also talks about the strata of (Indian) people who are not proud of their lineage..& request them to value the insurmountable knowledge that their ancestors left them.

Although being a non-fiction book, it has concepts being explained in the form of EXAMPLES & STORIES for easy absorption by the reader.

A must read..

Choose your #qotd
#qotd Do you know the meaning of “Vigilantism”❓

#qotdindia Did you enjoy Akshay Kumar’s movie Gabbar is back❓ What’s your take on it❓

#qotd Do you enjoy reading #thrillerbooks❓

#aotd “Vigilante justice” often describes the actions of a single person or group of people who claim to enforce the law but lack the legal authority to do so.

And this forms the basic crux of the book!

Author Bommadevara Sai Chandravadhan brings another, 3rd book in his kitty, an amazing read to the table with this book.
He uses the pen name Vadhan.
His 1st book #shatrukronicles came in 2014, followed by #agniputr in 2016.

The book begins with few lines of lyrics from “sympathy for the devil” by “The Rolling Stones” released in 1968.

It’s 343 pages of AMAZING WRITING, divided into 46 chapters which are further bifurcated into 3 parts.

The Thriller, talks about a different take on how to deal with #corruption

In the author’s words, FOG was sparked by the very unique vehicular drivers of the National Capital Region of India.

The story begins in Delhi with Prakash Kumar, MoP from Uttarakhand, who is kidnapped, very swiftly and is subsequently murdered. From an elite, political family, he was the only son. Was he tainted❓ Was he corrupt❓ Was his gruesome death justified ❓ Who is behind it❓

A video on social media showcasing the entire episode shakes the nation. The vigilante leaves a clue, a no. on his victim.

A series of murders of top brass government officials follow. They are left to bleed till death & the author paints a grotesque sketch with his words which is gut- churning.

For me, the high point of the story was the end, which was very pyrotechnic & impressive. It suggests a sequel in the future though.

Giving ✳️✳️✳️✳️ for the  impeccable writing style, simple english woven beautifully with a few words to increase the reader’s vocab. Narration is descriptive & keeps the heady literary, exciting throughout. The Title is fabulous & the Cover Design by @munishananda is so inventive & high quality.

All in all, a perfect concoction for an impressive thriller!
