Reading update of “Married to Bhutan” a TRAVELOGUE by Linda Leaming.
#readingupdate
I am currently on Chapter-4/12 of this aWeSoMe read.
The 1st two chapters got me in love with Bhutan and now the next two chapters have got me in love with the author, @linda.leaming ..
she as a person, her HUMOUROUS ENCOUNTERS, infact her QUIRKY TAKE on the regular life in Bhutan, her SIMPLE WRITING STYLE and DESCRIPTIVE NARRATION.
It’s NOT A REGULAR TRAVELOGUE, she describes the geographical beauty of Bhutan, it’s language, currency, culture, costumes so brilliantly masked in her stories that you are unknowingly absorbing so much of knowledge!
And that’s so awesome.
She talks how she remembered Bhutan even when she was back in her own country.
Eventually she sold everything she has to stay in Bhutan as an English teacher for no pay in a cultural school.
That was a TURNING POINT in her life.
Eventually in the 2nd year of her stay, she met her present husband @phurbanamgay a thanka painter. She says, he felt so familiar.
He is a Buddhist and believes their karma brought them together.
She says, “I believe in a lot of things that seem to defy reason. In Bhutan, that’s just the way it is”.
#qotd❤️ What was the TURNING POINT in your life❓ #aotd When I married, the love of my life, it was the TURNING POINT in my life..
Or ans this #qotd Where do you live and what do you do❓

I am presently reading this fabulous book on #bhutan and the genre is travel/ spirituality.
I am so grateful to @hayhouseindia for organising a #Giveaway wherein I won this book and it’s been a part of my tReAsUrE ever since ❤️
MARRIED TO BHUTAN- how one woman got lost, said “I do,” and found bliss.
It’s a 251 page, 12 chapters long, medium sized book.. beautifully formatted..and written with love and admiration for Bhutan, which visibly comes through the narration and the description.
The writing style is very interesting, simple, descriptive and if I may say, to an extent humourous.
Catch a brief synopsis here; #blurb
Tucked away in the eastern end of the Himalayas lies Bhutan – a tiny, landlocked country bordering China and India. Impossibly remote and nearly inaccessible, Bhutan is rich in natural beauty, exotic plants and animals, and crazy wisdom. It is a place where people are genuinely content with very few material possessions and the government embraces ‘Gross National Happiness’ instead of Gross National Product.
With fantastic lessons from the Bhutanese way of life, beautiful way of life, beautiful evocations of this unspoiled land and a love story which is founded on the new peace she founding Bhutan, this book will appeal to anyone who wants to go on a voyage of discovery; to a foreign land or within the self.
️#readingupdate I am just 2 chapters through and already in love with Bhutan!
