BUT
for me, personally
IT WAS A COCKTAIL OF EMOTIONS.

It TELLS US to prioritize our priorities, live our life for ourself first before seeking acceptance from society.. learn to give due importance to our feelings/ emotions.

This book has, two epilogues & for a reason which is completely understandable.

The STORYLINE:

ADITYA & TARA are a couple with a single child, a daughter, AVNIKA BAKSHI.

Now TARA gets involved in an extra marital affair with SAMEER, a family friend & soon leaves..without caring a penny for ADITYA or the least for AVNIKA.

ADITYA is the typical tall, dark & handsome kind-of guy, who is easily grabs attention without much effort.
But other than the physical aspect, he’s a sensible, caring, affectionate & a responsible human being.

The present:
After yrs, TARA sends divorce papers to ADITYA, he signs & sends em back without sharing it with AVNIKA, to avoid any further heartache to his only child.
Meanwhile AVNIKA has always thought that maybe someday her parents may reconcile & they will be again a happily family.

Now ADITYA is 40 years old & AVNIKA 17.
Soon RIA SANGHVI comes into their lives & she likes ADITYA from the very start
..although ADITYA has been avoiding her glances & hits & hints BECAUSE RIA is about her daughter’s age‼️

The feelings are mutual though ADITYA keeps on trying to ignore & avoid.

Eventually he gives in..

Then the story talks about how AVNIKA takes all of this..

Will this story have an HEA❓
Will AVNIKA accept his father’s relationship ❓
Will ADITYA & RIA fight for their love & ignore societal pressures❓

I loved the ending.

This is my FIRST INTERFACE with the AUTHOR’S WORK.
She’s the BEST-SELLING AUTHOR of
SOMETHING I NEVER TOLD YOU.
Her WRITING STYLE is very SIMPLE with LANGUAGE & WORDS which are EASILY DIGESTIBLE, which is actually very good for beginner (readers) and also a quality I see in the work of most of our Indian/ NRI authors.
It is a plus, infact, because it takes effort to express your thoughts in easy & simple words to cater to d masses.

It’s a LOVE STORY, as the title suggests.
A love story between two CHILDHOOD SWEETHEARTS, SCHOOL BUDDIES/ FRIENDS.
“The girl I love is dying.
I am writing this book as she inspires me to follow my dreams”.
The book BEGINS WITH A PROLOGUE, in the present tense & I absolutely loved the prologue & had high hopes.
Throughout the read, the story changes/ skips TIMELINES as we go back in the memories off & on, which was perfectly ok & not something abrupt.
2017 Delhi
The protagonist, SAHIL MALHOTRA is around 25 years old, the only child to newly rich, madly in love, filmi parents and to avoid joining the family business, he takes two yrs off to join MBA in Bengaluru.
Presently they are residing in Delhi.
Before leaving, he gets a glimpse of his childhood friend, ARYA SHARMA, twice & her memories & thoughts start creating a ruckus in his heart.
Later, he keeps on thinking about her & finally connect through social media.
To cut short, they eventually get married & she dies cause of cancer even before her 1st b’day after marriage.

The prologue had given me high hopes & maybe, therefore I had expected a lot from the book.
There were a few lines I underlined in the book, that were nice & had a great meaning.
The element of child molestation, school time crush/friendship/love, the chemistry between Sahil’s parents added to the story, definitely.
What I liked most was the later half of the book, where Arya is dying but she fights like a warrior & her thoughtfulness wherein she keeps on giving small notes to sahil, to leave behind good memories.
It did touch my heart but that’s abt it.

A man who had been frozen in Alaska (in the Gold Rush) during an avalanche, comes out alive after 122 years.. Interesting ❓ read on..‼️

WYATT wakes up in present-day Alaskan wilderness with no idea who he is except an empty journal with the date 1898 and a mirror. He sees another man, TRAVIS BARLOW hunting nearby, astounded that they look exactly alike except for his own beard.

After following this other man home, he witnesses a wife and child that brings forth a rush of memories of his own wife and child, except he’s certain they do not exist now, in 2019—but from his life in the late 1800s.

Memories become unearthed the more time he spends, making him believe that HE’D BEEN FROZEN AFTER COMING TO ALASKA DURING THE GOLD RUSH AND THAT TRAVIS IS HIS GREAT-GREAT GRANDSON.

Wyatt is CERTAIN GOLD STILL EXISTS in the area and finding it with Travis will ingratiate himself to the family, especially with Travis’s wife Callie, once WYATT FALLS IN LOVE.

This TURNS INTO A DANGEROUS OBSESSION affecting the Barlows and everyone in their small town, since WYATT CAN’T BE TAMED Until he also DISCOVERS THE MEANING OF WHY HE WAS ABLE TO BE PRESERVED ON ICE FOR OVER A CENTURY (cryogenically).

This is my first interface with the author’s work & I am definitely a FAN now, of his AMAZING WRITING STYLE which is rich in DESCRIPTION & has a kind-of RHYTHM to it!

I would like to point out 2 things;
1️⃣ I always always keep my logical brain in control, whenever I am reading fiction, to allow space for the author’s creativity & imagination.
2️⃣ If you are surprised with the beginning/ the storyline, then you would surely be shocked with the ending‼️

The story, also a SCI-FI, has an ADVENTURE & TIME TRAVEL element to it.
It has it’s own dose of LOVE & LUST peppered throughout!
A THRILLER which keeps you TURNING PAGES till the very end!
It BEAUTIFULLY CAPTURES the landscape & the GOLD RUSH of ALASKA‼️

4.5/5 because the ending broke my heart!
