The story is told in 3rd person narrative, from the perspective of a 150years old Haveli- the haveli with the hundred doors, based in old delhi which is really interesting & a treat to read.

The story begins with a flowchart of the large family, which occupies the haveli.

ARUN & his wife, UMA. His friend, SURESH. Their children, ARUNA, BHAVYA, CHARU, DHEERAJ & the triplets- ETTI, FANNY & GINA.

Charu, has a separate story..wherein a handicap gives way to an increased 6th sense. She’s an empathy & works with solving crime scenes.

The youngest kids, the trio are still young but old enough to understand the undertow of emotions happening in the haveli.

Bhavya has a close friend, gaurav, who has a segregated role to play.

Ravi, partner of Charu has his own role, in Aruna’s story.

The focus is on Aruna’s story throughout with briefing about all the characters & what’s going in their lives, side by side. The reason being, they are all connected.

The haveli, stands tall, even today, encompassing tears of love, laughter & pain & secrets of its occupiers.

📌Although, an average sized read, I read it in a SINGLE SITTING just because I could not put it down!
I laughed, I cried, I smirked, I smiled & reminisced on beautiful memories..

🙋🏻I have been a pet parent myself, throughout my life, a dog hooman though but have a stray cat in my home who chose to stay & her 3-4 generations too! After reading this book, I understand her a lot better! Her purring, her meows, her behaviour, everything & how unlike dogs they don’t like to be lead but instead lead! How fascinating!

This book is dedicated to Mrs Khan ala FIFTY, a cat who lived close to 5years with the author like her own precious son, her master..the book even has his pic at the end & that is when I could not control my tears..
It says, missing/ lost but never forgotten.

Cats/ dogs have a shorter life span than humans..we lose them pretty soon..which is the hardest part but..when you are unable to locate your pet for eternity, that’s when it gets unbearable.

📌The author shares her load of joys, bitter-sweet experiences, her journey as a pet parent, her dire want to become one right from her childhood, her experience when she becomes one, the kind of responsibility it involves, the fun it entails & the work it involves.

The bestest part was the experiences, which are unique with every person & I want to thank the author for sharing them.

How she found out about the unique nature of her pets, just like humans..
& how she made them comfortable & won their trust..

And yes, I too hate ppl who don’t like animals, esp dogs & cats.
